Call for applications to participate in the 19th meeting of the Council of Europe Dialogue with Roma and Traveller civil society
The 19th meeting of the Council of Europe Dialogue with Roma and Traveller civil society (Concept note) is scheduled to take place on 2-3 April 2025 in hybrid format, in Strasbourg and online, and it will focus on the Draft Council of Europe Strategy on Roma and Traveller Inclusion (2026-2030).
The meeting will:
- Present the Council of Europe Strategic Action Plan for Roma and Traveller Inclusion (2020-2025) and provide an overview of its implementation
- Collect proposals on how to further develop co-operation between the Council of Europe and Roma and Traveller civil society and the future agenda of the Council of Europe bi-annual dialogue meetings with Roma and Traveller civil society
- Serve as a co-operative and networking platform for Roma and Traveller civil society organisations and other stakeholders
- Serve as a platform for extending the knowledge of Council of Europe work in this area, exchanging experiences and sharing best practices on Roma inclusion, including with members of the Committe of Experts on Roma and Traveller Inclusion (ADI-ROM)
- Highlight and exchange examples of good practice in addressing obstacles to Roma and Traveller inclusion
- Bring forward solutions to advance Roma and Travellers inclusion which can be incorporated in the future actions of the Council of Europe;
- Identify possible topics that should be included in the future Council of Europe Strategy on Roma and Travellers Inclusion.
Selection criteria for Dialogue participants:
- geographical representation of the participants at national and regional levels and across Council of Europe member States;
- age and gender balance;
- experience and expertise regarding the Roma and Traveller Inclusion, in particular in the priority areas of the current Council of Europe Strategic Action Plan on Roma and Traveller Inclusion (2020-2025):
- Combat antigypsyism and discrimination and support real and effective equality
- Support democratic participation and promote public trust and accountability
- Support access to inclusive quality education and training
- current or latest contribution or project implementation in the aforementioned areas;
- participation in processes of development and design of strategies and action plans related to Roma/Traveller inclusion;
- ability to work orally and in writing in at least one of the official languages of the Council of Europe (English or French) or in Romani;
- personal motivation.
The call is open to representatives of Roma and Traveller civil society organisations.
Interested candidates must complete an online Application Form by 25 February 2025, midnight, Central European Time (CET). Incomplete applications or applications received after that deadline will not be considered.
Only successful applicants will be informed and notifications will be sent out by 3 March 2025.
