The online gathering will serve as a platform to present innovative methodologies in art and education aimed at commemorating the Roma and Sinti Holocaust. These methodologies have been developed by cultural professionals and educators engaged in the program over the past year.

In collaboration with key partners, including the POLIN MuseumTowards Dialogue Foundation, and the Museum of Romani Culture, this interdisciplinary project has successfully brought together experts from Germany, Poland, Czechia, and across Europe. Together, they have worked towards increasing the understanding and visibility of the Roma and Sinti Holocaust, which continues to be an underrepresented chapter of European history. Participants have engaged in study visits to cities such as Brno, Warsaw, and Berlin, complemented by interactive online sessions.

The final event will be dedicated to the new concepts for remembrance developed by program participants, who represent a variety of interests and professional backgrounds. The focus areas for this event will include:

  • Commemoration in public spaces
  • Digital activism and the role of social media
  • Educational activities for the wider community
  • Training for professionals in relevant fields
  • Artistic expressions as a means of commemoration

This program not only reflects on the devastating events of August 2, 1944—marking the 80th anniversary this year—but also seeks to confront and address the ongoing challenges of prejudice and exclusion faced by Roma communities throughout Europe.
