At the European level, the Swedish Commission against Antiziganism (the Commission) has frequently been cited as a promising example in discussions around truth and reconciliation processes (TRPs) concerning Roma and policies against antigypsyism .

In this event, experts at Swedish and European level will be presenting their experiences on the Roma rights and the fight against antigypsyism and the relevance for political processes around the promoting of Romani rights and the combatting of antigypsyism. Swedish representatives of government and relevant agencies as well as Romani civil society will be participating and will discuss about the transitional justice approaches.

This event falls within the framework of the European Union’s funded research project CHACHIPEN (Romani for Truth): ‘Paving the way for Truth and Reconciliation Process to address anti-Gypsyism in Europe: Remembrance, Recognition, Justice and Trust-Building. CHACHIPEN aims to develop and identify tools to address historically rooted anti-Gypsyism and its consequences through, for example, truth and reconciliation processes.

In this event, the Report on ‘Considering the Swedish Commission against Antiziganism 2014-2016‘ will be also launched and presented.

The event is open to the public, hybrid (online webinar) and it will also be broadcasted on CEPS Youtube Channel. The conference will offer Swedish/English translation.

This project is funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020). You can visit the project’s website at: About CHACHIPEN – Stop Antigypsyism!

Registration for this event will be ending on December 08th 14:00 (CET)
