The European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC), in partnership with the Council of Europe’s Roma and Travellers Division, is pleased to invite you to the 5th International Conference – Safeguarding Romani Language. This two-day hybrid event will take place on November 5-6, 2024 at the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg, with live streaming for remote participants.
The conference opens on a particularly meaningful day — November 5, International Romani Language Day —emphasizing our shared commitment to the preservation and growth of Romani linguistic heritage.
As part of ERIAC’s Romani Language Initiative—launched in 2020 with support from the German Federal Foreign Office—this annual conference is a key forum for advancing the Romani Language Reform. It brings together leading experts in Romani language education, linguistics, and cultural heritage to develop unified approaches to preserving and promoting Romani linguistic heritage across Europe.
The event will also feature a dedicated book launch session for the newly developed A1, A2, and B1 Romani language books, providing valuable resources for language learners and educators.
