Sommaren 2016 får filmaren Hanna Heilborn en fråga från sin vän Dijana Pavlovic, romsk aktivist och skådespelerska. Dijana ber Hanna komma och filma i en romsk by, Villaggio delle Rose, i södra Milano. I år har Rosornas By sin världspremiär på Göteborgs filmfestival 2 februari, följt av ett samtal med regissören och Britt-Inger Hedström Lundqvist från Magasin DIKKO!

In the summer of 2016, filmmaker Hanna Heilborn received a question from her friend Dijana Pavlovic, Roma activist and actress. Dijana asks Hanna to come and film in a Roma village, Villaggio delle Rose, in the south of Milan. The Village of Roses has its world premiere at the Gothenburg Film Festival on February 2, followed by a talk with the director and Britt-Inger Hedström Lundqvist from Magasin DIKKO!
About the film:
Every morning a school bus passes Denise and her cousins Jonathan and Walter, without picking them up. Meanwhile the far-right is growing in Europe. Over a period of six years, we follow the everyday life of one Roma family, fighting to exist with warmth and humor. All woven together with TV-archives and phone calls between the director and her friend Dijana Pavlović, which awakens the entire emotional spectrum, give an experience of recognition and confrontation against one’s own prejudices at the same time. It is with pride that we announce that Hanna Heilborn’s eye opening film has it’s world’s premier at Göteborg Film Festival
