We are pleased to announce the Antigypsyism: History and Memory conference, which will mark the launch of the Swedish Network for Antigypsyism Research and Critical Romani Studies (SACROS). The conference addresses the historical roots and contemporary forms of antigypsyism, including the Roma Holocaust, bringing together leading scholars and practitioners from the fields of Critical Romani Studies and antigypsyism research.
The event will highlight cutting-edge research in Critical Romani Studies and antigypsyism research, focusing on the Holocaust, memory, and the ongoing challenges of antigypsyism. We are honored to welcome three distinguished
keynote speakers:
- Ian Hancock
- Ari Joskowicz
- Ioanida Costache
The Antigypsyism: History and Memory conference serves as a strategic initiative to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange on a pressing issue that continues to affect Romani communities globally. Speakers will present and discuss their research in five conference panels:
- Panel 1: Historical Perspectives
- Panel 2: Memory and Representation
- Panel 3: Museum Narratives
- Panel 4: Antigypsyism and Society
- Panel 5: Theoretical Approaches to Antigypsyism
The event will also include a roundtable discussion on ”The Future of Critical Romani Studies and Antigypsyism Research: Sweden and Beyond,” reflecting on future directions for the field.
