Not all Romani People are Roma but some are
Not all of us Rom read fortunes. Some of us do.
Not all of us are “nomadic” but some of us are.

Not all of us wear the diklo (and diklo in this context can mean headscarf for females or neckerchief for males) or other ”traditional” clothing but some of us do.

Diversity within our Diversity is beautiful. We have to find ways to embrace all of the diversity whilst still holding Gadje people accountable for exploiting our culture.

The problem is that the “experts” are trying to convince everyone, Amare Chel included, that we are all Roma, and others are just sub-groups of Roma, which is not the case.

The Sinti, including the Romanichals, the Manouche, as well as the Kale (Cale), have different Cultural aspects and even, according to some sources, significant differences in the DNA, and that includes the Rom Polska.

While many, if not indeed all, of the Roma groups, have some sort of child marriage it is something unknown withing the Sinti groups, in the same way that the Sinti do not arrange marriages nor do they have a bride price. A marriage arrangement among the Sinti groups often starts with an elopement of the couple.

This diversity within the diversity of the various groups makes for something unique and beautiful though it is, apparently, something that the “experts” cannot fathom or are not willing to do and accept.

We have somewhere in the region of 65 plus dialects of Amari Chib, of our Language, with such a variation that some may not understand another groups speaking the Chib and then there are those who, for many reasons, have lost the Chib altogether. That makes them no less Romani. The Culture, the Traditions and Practices what counts; the Language, though nice to have, is but secondary.

Any Gadjo or Gadji can learn the language and become, more or less, efficient in it, like one can with any other language, but living the Culture and all that goes with is, now that is another thing and more often than not pretenders can be discovered that way by those of us in the know.

There are even “experts” on Amari Chel, who are of Romani descent, but who have no idea of Romanipen, and if they have they do not live it. They live like Gadje and behave like Gadje but want to teach us, the Rom, who and what were are (supposed) to be and how we are (supposed) to be. Some even have doctorates in Romani Studies but do not live the Romani way.

But it is they that the Gadje use to make their points as to Amare Chel and Amaro Drom. They do not talk to, let alone consult, the tatcho Rom, those of the more or less grassroots. You have to have a title to be invited, be that to the conferences about us, more often than not without any Romani representation, or other such events to get the truth across. The Gadje don’t want the truth from us. They want to continue their way of oppression and forced integration and assimilation. And, alas, those “experts” aid and abet them all the way and the saddest fact is that some of them are Rom by Bloodline.
