On November 5, the World Day of Romani Language, the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) is organizing the Third International Conference ”Safeguarding Our Romani Language”, in partnership with the Intercultural Institute Timisoara and West University Timisoara, under the auspices of the Timisoara – European Capital of Culture 2023.

This year on 5 November, the Language Conference with the overreaching topic of antigypsyism in Romanian and European context, ERIAC and the Intercultural Institute are focusing on links between language and stereotypes and the role that Romani plays in constructing Romani identity, pointing to the issues of identity, culture, discrimination, racism and empowerment.
The Intercultural Institute of Timisoara (IIT) is a non-governmental organisation that promotes intercultural values, active citizenship and respect for human rights and it is working on the topics addressed in the conference since 1996, at national and European levels. In the programme of Timisoara – European Capital of Culture 2023, the Intercultural Institute is leading the trail ”Invisible/Visible – Deconstructing stereotypes and overcoming marginalisation of Roma communities in Timișoara and Europe”.
